Finished December 1, 2024. This is my first pair of knitted socks and I LOVE THEM. I followed the One Sock pattern by Kate Atherley. That woman is a genius. If you want to try sock knitting, this is the perfect pattern to start with.
I knitted these socks using Paton’s Kroy Socks (two 50g balls) in 57210 Cascade Colors. My foot circumference is 8″ and length is 8.5,” and I had 40g of yarn left (about 20g each ball). That’s not enough to knit another full pair of socks, but it’s plenty to make a short pair or a longer pair with a different color for the cuff, heal, and toe.

I knitted these socks two-at-a-time on the same needle using the magic loop method. When I got to the toe portion of each, I changed to separate needles. I’ve since learned that I prefer two-at-a-time on separate needles using magic loop. I’ve used double-pointed needles (DPNs) a few times, but I didn’t enjoy the process.
Overall, I love these socks. I wear them all the time. The heel and toe are super comfortable, and I can wear these socks with any shoes without issue. I am super picky about socks because I have sensory issues with my feet, but these socks don’t bother me at all. I’ve worn them a ton since finishing them in December, and they are holding up really well. The flat picture below was taken in July 2025, and they still look good as new.
